Key Responsibilities:

Diagnostic Pathology:
-
Examine tissue samples biopsies blood samples and other medical specimens to identify diseases abnormalities and conditions.

Diagnose a wide range of conditions including cancers infections and genetic disorders based on laboratory findings.

Perform autopsies to determine the cause of death document findings and communicate the results to relevant parties.
-
Laboratory Oversight:
-
Oversee laboratory processes ensuring proper handling testing and analysis of samples according to medical and ethical guidelines.

Ensure that laboratory equipment is maintained calibrated and functioning properly to deliver accurate test results.
-
Review and validate laboratory reports and ensure all diagnostic information is correct and consistent.

Collaboration with Medical Teams:

Collaborate with other medical professionals including surgeons oncologists and clinicians to discuss patient cases and assist in the development of treatment plans.

Provide insights based on pathological findings to assist healthcare teams in making informed decisions regarding patient care and prognosis.

Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases and provide expert pathology opinions.

Reporting & Documentation:

Prepare and review pathology reports documenting all findings diagnoses and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.

Maintain accurate and confidential patient records ensuring compliance with legal regulatory and organizational standards.

Provide timely and actionable feedback to referring physicians and medical staff regarding diagnostic results.

Research & Education:

Stay current with advances in the field of pathology including new diagnostic techniques technologies and treatments.

Participate in research projects and clinical trials to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge.

Educate medical students residents and other healthcare professionals through lectures workshops and mentoring.

Publish research findings in medical journals or present at professional conferences.

Quality Control & Compliance:

Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations laboratory accreditation standards and ethical guidelines.

Implement and monitor quality control measures to maintain high standards in diagnostic practices.
-
Participate in audits reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of service quality.

Consultation & Expert Opinion:

Provide expert opinions on challenging or complex cases to assist in difficult diagnoses.

Offer second opinions for patients and other medical professionals when needed.
-
Provide expert testimony in legal cases related to pathology findings when required.
Requirements:

Education:
-
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
-
Board certification or eligibility in pathology (Anatomic or Clinical Pathology).
-
Additional fellowship training in specialized pathology fields (e.g. hematopathology neuropathology) is a plus.

Experience:

At least 3-5 years of experience as a practicing pathologist in a clinical setting.

Experience with various diagnostic procedures including tissue analysis cytology and autopsies.

Proven track record of accurate diagnosis and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Skills & Abilities:

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in identifying disease markers and abnormalities.

In-depth knowledge of pathology procedures diagnostic technologies and laboratory techniques.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly to patients and colleagues.

Ability to handle complex and emotionally sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Technical Proficiency:

Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) electronic medical records (EMR) and diagnostic software.

Familiarity with molecular pathology techniques including PCR FISH and next-generation sequencing is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:

Fellowship or specialization in a particular area of pathology (e.g. dermatopathology pediatric pathology forensic pathology).

Active participation in professional organizations such as the College of American Pathologists (CAP) or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Research experience with published work in peer-reviewed medical journals.
