A Sales Engineer is responsible for selling complex technical products or services by combining deep product knowledge with strong sales and communication skills. The role involves identifying customer needs demonstrating product capabilities preparing proposals and working closely with engineering and sales teams to close deals.
Sales Engineers typically work in industries such as manufacturing automation HVAC fire protection systems IT or any field requiring technically detailed sales support.
Requirements
- Understand and analyze customer requirements to offer suitable technical solutions.
- Present and demonstrate products or systems to clients including onsite visits and virtual meetings.
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals quotations and tender documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to customize or adapt solutions to meet client needs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers consultants and contractors.
- Track and follow up on leads opportunities and ongoing projects in a CRM system.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support as needed.
- Attend trade shows exhibitions and industry events to promote the companys offerings.
- Keep updated with industry trends competitor activities and product developments.
- Meet or exceed sales targets and contribute to overall company growth.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical Electrical Instrumentation or related field).
- Proven experience in technical sales preferably in B2B or project-based industries.
- Strong understanding of the products or systems being sold (e.g. fire fighting HVAC electrical automation).
- Excellent communication presentation and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce Zoho).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and site visits.
