Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Engineering (Civil & Urban Engineering) & Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) - Dr. Mohamed Moustafa

The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience Energy and Sustainability (SHORES)and the Division of Engineering New York University Abu Dhabi seek to recruit one or more motivated post doctoral associates to work on cuttingedge research in the area of resilient concrete structures. Particular areas of interest include:

• UHPC mix development material characterization structural design and precast applications.
• Structural 3D printing (metals concrete and composites) at multiple scales.
• Soilstructure interaction and resilient foundation systems.
• Smallscale structural centrifuge testing and physical modeling.
• Advanced instrumentation and experimental simulation.

Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree in Civil Structural Mechanical or Material Engineering. Other related field such as Nuclear Engineering Material Science etc. are also welcomed.

Required qualifications include: strong communication and presentation skills; a track record in writing and publishing peerreviewed journal publications; and previous or relevant experience in mentoring or supervising undergraduate student research or junior graduate students.

A formal training education or certification in a secondary area (beyond the main PhD focus) such as additive manufacturing 3D concrete printing soilstructure interaction centrifuge testing etc. is a plus. Other preferred qualifications include: expertise in laboratory and multiscale experimental testing (at material component and structural level) 3D printing and physical modeling for structural and geotechnical application programming and coding (preferably using Python and C) along with GUI and simple computational tool development.

The candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhDlevel scientists and undergraduate students conduct highquality innovative and independent experimental analytical and/or computational research publish research work and results in scientific peerreviewed journals and conferences mentor undergraduate students and participate in writing research grant proposals.
