Purchase Engineer

• Plan prioritize assign supervise and review the work of local purchase and store department staff.
  
• Confer with department representatives to determine purchasing requirements and specifications.
  
• Supervise stores activities control inventory levels and make reports on slow moving nonmoving and obsolete stocks for appropriate action.
  
• Analyze and evaluate the cost quality and suitability of supplies services materials and equipment against specifications.
  
• Optimum use of financial resources by selection of most cost effective products.
  
• Assist Purchase Manager in the preparation and administration of department budget.
  
• Maintain contact and negotiate with vendors; keep informed of new products; develop new sources of supply; evaluate vendor performance.
  
• Establish schedules and methods for providing purchasing services and implement policies and procedures.
  

FRAMEWORK BOUNDARIES AND DECISIONMAKING

The position reports to the Purchase Manager and is responsible for sourcing evaluation and price negotiation of goods and services; and establishes effective relationships with interdepartment staff suppliers customs and regulatory authorities.

The job holder is to work within the guidelines set by the Purchase Manager.

Work is regularly reviewed by the Purchase Manager.

Requirements

Mechanical Engineer with additional qualifications in Purchase and Inventory Management.

710 years experience in Engineering Industry at a supervisory level.

Negotiating skills. Knowledge of SAP with Material Management Module Communication and Man management skills.
