Job Title: Secondary English Teacher International Baccalaureate (IB)
Location: Muscat Oman
August 2024 Start The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat Oman serving the local Omani community as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school was established in 1993 under the ownership of the Royal Office and Royal Oman Police Pension Funds on land donated by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to provide high quality international education whilst embracing traditional values based on the foundations of Omans cultural heritage.
The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS).
Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary English Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The successful candidate will have experience teaching English at the secondary level preferably within an IB or international school setting. They will be responsible for delivering highquality instruction developing engaging curriculum materials and supporting students in their academic and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver comprehensive English language and literature instruction to secondary students (grades 612) following the IB curriculum framework.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student inquiry critical thinking and creative expression.
- Design and implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate student progress and achievement providing timely feedback to support student learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units of inquiry and promote crosscurricular connections.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience and meet the diverse needs of students.
- Establish positive relationships with students parents and colleagues maintaining open communication and collaboration.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in English language teaching and IB education.
- Contribute to the wider school community through involvement in extracurricular activities committees and school events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education English or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or license from a recognized authority.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience teaching English at the secondary level preferably in an IB or international school environment.
- Deep understanding of the IB curriculum framework and pedagogy with experience in implementing inquirybased learning and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Flexibility adaptability and a growth mindset.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Experience working with diverse student populations and a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in education.
