The Technical Director Design Management provides strategic leadership and technical direction across a complex project and multidisciplinary teams. This role is responsible for advancing the companys technical capabilities mentoring talent and ensuring the delivery of innovative high-quality design solutions. The Technical Director operates as a recognized expert within their discipline contributing to business growth technical excellence and client satisfaction.
The role is for a specific project providing design advisory services for a highly confidential project within our business. The successful candidate will be an established architect with experience in different building typologies with specific experience in Academic University campus projects. The following tasks provide an outline of the main tasks to be undertaken:
Stakeholder Coordination - Coordinate with the Clients Team stakeholders to schedule technical meetings and workshops where required.
Report status updates progress and issues to management and the assigned PMO.
Contribute to Weekly PMC Reports.
Review Payment Certificates submitted by the LDC and provide percentage completion assessments.
Regular coordination with local design consultant and design advisory team to monitor progress of delivery identify inputs required from other stakeholders support in providing information to allow design to continue.
Twice-weekly design development workshops with the LDC to review progress and monitor ongoing compliance with end-user requirements.
Attend presentations conducted by LDC and Design Team. Provide feedback during presentations on design related matters.
Review design stage submissions prepare mark-ups and Comments Resolution Sheet for submission review and monitor revision with LDC and Design Team. Comments to include Constructability and Safety in Design. Final Technical Review & Advice (incl. Client requirements compliance Constructability Value Engineering & Safety in Design). reviews and recommendation for Clients approvals.
Issue design review comments to the LDC in coordination with the assigned PMO.
Attend programming / procurement workshops with Contractor / Design Team provide technical input where required to align with Clients requirements.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
- Valid professional architecture license
- Minimum 15 years of experience in architectural design with a focus on retail and hospitality projects
- Proven track record in leading and managing large-scale complex architectural projects
- Strong portfolio demonstrating innovative and successful retail and hospitality designs
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire diverse teams
- Proficiency in architectural software such as AutoCAD Revit and SketchUp
