- Installing and replacing valves and piping systems in industrial plants and other facilities
- Inspecting equipment for leaks or defects to determine if repairs are needed
- Testing and calibrating new equipment to ensure that it is operating properly
- Troubleshooting malfunctions in existing equipment and repairing them as needed
- Operating machines that cut, drill, thread, grind, ream, or tap metal or other materials
- Writing detailed reports about work performed or problems encountered during projects
