Systems Engineer - Databases

About The Role

You will be tasked with leading IT application architecture and solution design for assigned business units. You will work with the technical team to design database for enterprise applications, own interface control design and reviews. You will lead the data base architectures and solution design for assigned projects to ensure consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal divisional customers.

Your Responsibilities

• Contribute to and review Documentation of Functional Specifications, Interface Specifications and Non-Functional Requirements.
• Liaise with external 3rd party suppliers, where required, and internal departments / IT teams to collaborate and design and implement robust interfaces between applications for effective integration.
• Design and build IT solutions which are scalable, resilient and sustainable to address business requirements
• Proficient in Database design for enterprise applications, Prepare / Review High Level and Low Level Design artefacts, ensure adherence to QRIT Software Governance Integration (SGI) standards.
• Responsible for development of DB stored procedures and packages including unit testing.
• Responsible to ensure performance bottlenecks are identified & removed during design and development of DB objects and procedures
• Responsible to maintain the DB code in configuration management tool like Azure Devops or TFS
• Ensure conduct of QA reviews and unit test case reviews for assigned applications.
• Responsible for solution design, methods and tools, including the technical aspects of configuration management methods, system security requirements, operational and maintenance aspects of solutions under development.
• Ensure quality control activities (including NFR testing) are carried out satisfactorily. Attends quality reviews as appropriate.
• Co-ordinates design activity, within a programme of change, acting as custodian of the database solution designs for the entire application
• Takes responsibility for the technical integrity of solution designs, ensuring that common technical elements are recognised and that work is not unnecessarily duplicated.
• Supports in the development of service level agreements and any associated service guarantees.
• Conduct root cause analysis of reported incidents in operational systems and ensure timely fixes.
• Ensure that the solution reviews for the fixes, functionality is fully tested and then promoted following the software release management processes.
• Conduct proactive performance and fine tuning of Production applications for early detection and rectification of slow response transactions, application errors, query tuning etc and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• To enforce compliance to QRIT policies while selecting solution design components, and co-ordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency in the assigned projects. Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to.
• Responsible for ensuring that solution design caters to functional, non-functional, security, service quality and systems management requirements.
