Job Title: Storage Engineer

Location: Remote, EST Hours

Job Type: 6-Month Contract (Extendable), Full-time

Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST (Eastern Standard Time)

Responsibilities:

As a Storage Engineer on a 6-month contract (with the possibility of extension), you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing storage solutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in NFS, Ceph, Samba, VAST, Weka, and Gradient shared file systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Storage Infrastructure Management:
  • Administer and optimize storage solutions, including NFS, Ceph, Samba, VAST, Weka, and Gradient shared file systems.
  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of storage infrastructure.
  • System Configuration:
  • Configure and maintain storage systems to meet organizational requirements.
  • Implement best practices for data storage, backup, and recovery.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand storage needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Performance Monitoring:
  • Monitor storage performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance optimization strategies.
  • Conduct regular system health checks and preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and resolve storage-related issues promptly.
  • Implement corrective actions and provide root cause analysis for incidents.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate documentation of storage configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures for storage systems.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce security measures for storage systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Emerging Technologies:
  • Stay informed about advancements in storage technologies.
  • Evaluate and recommend new solutions to enhance storage capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Storage Engineer, specializing in NFS, Ceph, Samba, VAST, Weka, and Gradient shared file systems.
  • Strong understanding of storage management best practices.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting storage-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote and time-sensitive environment.
  • Experience with Gradient shared file systems is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in storage technologies (e.g., Ceph, NFS) are desirable.
