A Linux administrator specialist who installs and maintains Linux operating systems performs system maintenance by reviewing error logs. Creates system backups. Help troubleshoot problems with Linux servers running various versions of Linux including Red Hat Ubuntu CentOS.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage support and maintain Linux installed systems.
Install upgrade and maintain Linux based systems.
Ensure security of systems and data
Manage system backups restore and recovery.
Manage user accounts groups and services.
Manage and maintain storage.
Work with users to resolve account/system issues.
Provide support on all Linux applications and UNIX based applications.
Assist with Linux server administration tasks.
Engage in continuous testing of new Linux versions and applications on an ondemand basis.
Perform change control.
Assist with user management such as creating accounts for new hires
Install and maintain servers.
Help automate server maintenance including running scripts and automated processes.
Maintain server uptime and network performance.
Assist with server documentation.
Maintain server security.
Ensure all administrative procedures are followed.
Document all server incidents and outages
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Good command in English
Extremely diligent and attentive to details.
Effective communicator at all levels with excellent English writing skills
Ability to cope under pressure and balancing multiple priorities.
Strong understanding of project management and IT governance
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related field
10 years of Linux System Administration experience
Experience with Linux system architecture
Experience with Linuxbased VPN clients firewalls intrusion detection systems filesystems and authentication
Experience in Virtualization and Linux different flavors.
