Job Description

  • Performs all hands-on routine inspection, preventative maintenance, condition monitoring, troubleshoots, corrective and emergency repairs on generator sets and associated local control systems. Diagnose problems and then repair/replace defective parts as required.
  • Performs hands-on electrical maintenance and repair of power production electrical and mechanical and auxiliary systems of power generation equipment up to 2 MVA and facilities operating at 30MVA and greater total output with diesel driven prime movers.
  • Performs hands-on inspections, and tests fuel receiving and distribution system including tanks, pumps, leak detection, fuel distribution and inventory, scheduling orders, and reporting.
  • Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Power Generation Supervisor
  • Performs preventative maintenance services and repairs on 6-kW to 2000-kW generators involving installation, removal, operation of generators from locations to power generation shops.
  • Troubleshoots and rebuilds engines, alternate current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
  • Responsible for maintaining all type of power generation equipment, including but not limited to FG Wilson, Caterpillar, Marapco, Cummins, Mitsubishi, SDMO, Olympian, Kohler, Perkins, MEPs, and other military design generators.
  • Rebuilds and repair gas compressors (turbochargers) used for forced-induction of generator engines, head gaskets, seals, water pumps, fuel pumps, torque heads, belts, and hoses.
  • Test batteries, fuel, coolant, and oil; ship oil samples for analysis or analyze as directed.
  • Installs specified new or reconditioned parts, makes required adjustments, and reassembles complete unit.
  • Transports and properly disposes hazardous materials to HAZMAT collection point.
  • Moves materials and equipment to work locations and executes the work.
  • Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
  • Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment and ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times by all employees.
  • Promotes teamwork and actively participates in quality improvement process.
  • Promotes safety awareness and complies with all applicable safety procedures and regulations, performs other duties and activities as directed.
  • In-depth knowledge of diagnostic software FG WILSON, Electronic Service Tool, and Compass would be an advantage.
  • Responsible for operation of the power generation facility within all environmental and regulatory requirements and constraints.
  • Supervise, manage, and schedule multi-skilled level operations and maintenance team members, power generation operators, and power generation mechanics to meet defined service schedules and respond to emergency, urgent, and routine maintenance requests.
  • Completes performance evaluations, implements training programs, addresses grievances, and administer disciplinary actions as required to subordinate multi-national employees.
  • Maintains technical library and record-keeping which documents all procedures necessary to accomplish assigned responsibility.
  • Responsible for department communications activities – attend/participate in department meetings. Identify department risk/liability and develop work plans to manage ongoing risks as it relates to the operation of the power generation facilities, power delivery and power quality.
  • Responds to emergency calls regarding power generation equipment breakdowns and unit outages.
  • Ability to interpret and apply required corrective action with data readings and results of equipment checks to identify equipment or process problems and take appropriate responses to correct or resolve problems.
  • MAXIMO experience or other digital CMMS software experience would be an advantage.
