A piping designer focuses specifically on the pipes of a building or structure and creates a layout for the entire system. However, piping designers aren’t just limited to building construction. Some work in the petroleum industry, where they draft designs for piping systems that transport oil and natural gas. Others design systems to carry water or sewage on a much larger scale than residential homes or buildings.
- Prepare a first draft of the piping system
- Draft a 3D model in a CAD software
- Document all of the specifications
- Work with engineers to ensure your design is sound
