Summary:
The Journeyman Network Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, and support of data networks and related network equipment. The position seeks to ensure the uptime, performance, resources, & security of the networks managed, including local, wireless, and wide area networks.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Administering the operation of all LAN/WAN-related network services according to Government policies and procedures
- Coordinating and implementing network software and hardware upgrades
- Troubleshooting and resolving LAN/WAN performance, connectivity, and related network problems
- Administering LAN/WAN security, antivirus, and spam control measures
- The Government may require Candidates to be on call 24/7 in case of network failures or emergencies
- Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments
- Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks
- Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems
- Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable

Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Needs solid technical skills and experience with a variety of network 41 protocols, software, and hardware involved in LAN and WAN operations
- Requires strong troubleshooting, analytic and diagnostic skills, along with good communication abilities
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in a STEM field or equivalent years of experience
- At least 3 -5 years of related experience
- Extensive experience in areas such as network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, Internet protocols and TCP/IP, and server and network infrastructure is required
- Top Secret Personnel clearance with eligibility for access to SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with network design, installation, and configuration
- Experience with network monitoring tools
