We are seeking skilled press officers, writers and public relations professionals to join This Company s International Media Relations (IMR) Unit. The unit functions as the Companys primary point of contact for journalists around the world, communicating its strategy and business activities in an open, honest, and transparent manner. The unit performs a range of media-related tasks involving global print, online and broadcast channels. Operating on the front lines of media relations, the unit is entrusted with safeguarding and building the reputation of one of the world s leading energy and chemicals companies.

Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
  • Build, maintain, and actively manage relationships with journalists and media outlets, including Tier 1 international titles, trade and special-interest publications (covering print, online and broadcast channels).
  • Provide functional support and advice to senior leaders on strategic media issues.
  • Contribute to crisis communication and response management.
  • Support the Company s quarterly results announcements, including media calls and interviews.
  • Prepare media plans, communications briefings and Q&A documents for executives.
  • Co-ordinate media visits, interviews and background briefings.
  • Develop corporate announcements and press releases.
  • Provide on-site media relations support to executives at international events, conferences and during company activities.
  • Respond effectively to media enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Develop materials that effectively communicate This Company s strategic objectives to global media.
  • Identify potential opportunities to engage with media on high-value projects.
  • Support story generation activities, including proactive article and thought leadership development.
  • Foster positive internal relationships across the company, to support the International Media Relations Unit s key objectives.


Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor s degree, preferably in journalism, communications or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Languages: English (native / fluent), with full professional written and verbal proficiency.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience in journalism, media relations or corporate communications, gained in either an agency or in-house corporate setting ideally with previous experience of the energy, oil and gas sectors.
  • Previous experience as spokesperson is preferred, while a proven track record in crisis communications is also an advantage.
  • Strong networking skills are essential and the role requires a strong understanding and experience of working in the media or public relations field.
  • Qualities: The role suits a strong team player who is able to develop and maintain networks, perform well under pressure and handle a variety of requests.
  • Flexibility and good organizational skills are crucial. Candidates should also be detail-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • The position matches imaginative public relations professionals who can think quickly on their feet, and who are comfortable speaking to large or small groups including senior leaders and executives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are therefore key. Candidates should also be trustworthy, displaying responsibility and care when handling confidential or sensitive topics.
