Deputy Design Manager will be responsible for reviewing designs from a variety of disciplines and making sure these are in line with building codes, standards and regulations, then given the designs approval to begin site work.
Duties & Responsibilities, (include but not limited to):

Manage the design process from inception through concept, schematic design, detail design to ensure quality and client satisfaction.

Manage the contractors and subcontractors design team including structure, architecture and MEP design.
.
Assist engineering staff in the design and development of systems and components.
.
Collaborate with the engineering staff to produce design sketches and drawings in accordance with applicable standards.
.
Preparation of design documents and instructions.
.
Checking of documents prepared by consultant, venders and subcontractors as appropriate.
.
Review and verify design drawings and other technical documentation prepared by others to ensure correctness and accuracy in form, fit and function.

Coordination with other disciplines for necessary information.
.
Conduct or attend design review meetings with the employer, consultants, vendors, subcontractors or other design engineers.

Checking of contract technical specifications to confirm adequacy and implementation.
.
Ensure that the design is aligned, coordinated and meet the requirements of the contract.
.
Ensure the construction documents/drawings are consistent with the design documents and in compliance with the contract requirements.

Provide technical expertise in development or review of policies and procedures in relation to architectural, structures and systems and construction / safety code.

Researches and maintain knowledge of current building materials and methods of application
.
Approve the drawings and plans made by the team validating approval for further process.

Check and fix any issues that might occur on the design.
.
Preparing the scope of work, specifications and drawings for tender documents.
.
Coordinate a team effort to complete a project promptly and successfully.
.
Act as intermediary between Client & the team.
.
Working around constraining factors such as town planning legislation, environmental impact and project budget.
.
Follow up for building permits and obtain Municipal approval.
.
Keep within financial budgets and deadlines.
