Provides functional direction to employees working in the field supervises contractor crew in assigned areas monitors soil mix preparation for different plant categories from propagation cutting to seed germination supervises propagation techniques and selection and maintenance of indoor plants. Assists technical crew in identifying plants through their scientific and botanical names and coordinates landscaping activities. Analyzes and forecasts materials used in greenhouses/nursery operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works with a high degree of independence receives broad guidance & direction from the Division or Unit head as applicable. As an expert on agriculture/horticulture provides technical advice and guidance to all gardening landscaping golf course and nursery staff on plant production programs landscaping projects gardening maintenance new plant varieties routine pest control and other activities related to Gardening.
- Also provides functional support to other CS areas on technical knowhow and skills in effective gardening maintenance and project implementation and planning.
- Directs research and experiments to identify land use problems suitable plant varietiestechniques for nursery operations; best methods for planting spraying cultivatingharvesting storing processing or transporting agricultural/horticultural products as well as pest/weed management.
- Provides guidance on planning & developing community projects develops programs which will achieve quality landscaping designs effective implementation and possible cost reduction.
- Designs work programs for implementation by the Gardening Landscaping and Nurserypersonnel. Reviews and advises staff in the performance of their duties preparing periodic reports for supervisory review regarding work performance.
- Provides guidance on programs for training staff personnel on the latest agricultural/horticultural technology or methodologies including plant insect/pest control.
- Coordinates & implements Integrated Pest Management programs to control horticultural &agricultural pests in all landscaped areas including residences. Advises & instructs on plant pest control.
- Conducts surveys collects samples & studies plant pests & materials to improve control efforts.
- Studies soil characteristics and develops improved measurement techniques soil conservation methods soil sampling devices or other technologies.
- Consults with engineers or other technical personnel working on projects about the effects of soil problems and their possible solutions.
- Plans and supervises land conservation and reclamation programs for industrial development projects and waste management programs for composting and landscaping.
Requirements
- Broad knowledge of agricultural theories & practices and methods of applying modern landscaping and gardening techniques.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate activity reports to superior and to make presentations among gardening staff.
- Educational Level: Bachelors Degree Title Discipline Title Field of Study Bachelor of Science Agriculture and Natural Resources Agriculture (Gen) Bachelor of Science Agriculture and Natural Resources Horticulture Special Field Experience In agricultural production nursery management and landscaping in arid areas
A successful candidate should hold a Bachelor s degree from a recognized and approved program in the fields of journalism, communications or related field with equivalent experience. An advanced degree is preferred. Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years experience in journalism, media relations or corporate communications, gained in either an agency or in-house corporate setting ideally with previous experience of the energy, oil and gas sectors. Candidate should have previous experience as spokesperson is preferred, while a proven track record in crisis communications is also an advantage. Candidate should have strong networking skills are essential and the role requires a strong understanding and experience of working in the media or public relations field. Candidate should be able to develop and maintain networks, perform well under pressure and handle a variety of requests. Candidate should be fixable and have good organizational skills. Candidates should also be detail-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability. Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills. Candidate should also be trustworthy, displaying responsibility and care when handling confidential or sensitive topics.
