Job Description

The Business Development Intern will be joining the Business Development Unit, providing support primarily with proposal development and marketing. She/he will assist the team in conducting comprehensive contextual background research, writing select proposal/pre-proposal components, and developing marketing and other materials on an as-needed basis. She/he will also assist with the broader bid preparation and production process.

Job Duties:

  • Conducts comprehensive research on humanitarian and development topics in all RMTeam countries of operation, tailored to each proposal being prepared, and writes context analyses for bid submissions.
  • Prepares and updates country context analyses and RMTeam capacity statements.
  • Writes select proposal pieces on an as-needed basis.
  • Supports the proposal development process by preparing supporting documents, team profiles, CVs, and past project descriptions; strategically enhances CVs and team profiles.
  • Participates in proposal development meetings and liaises with BD team members and other departments to ensure quality submissions.
  • Analyses RFP requirements, communicates these requirements effectively with team members, and continually works to promote and ensure compliance.
  • Develops strong understanding of the components and processes needed for successful bid submissions, identifies areas for support, and provides support where needed.
  • Supports with competitive analysis, developing win themes and technical approaches, envisioning needed personnel, and selecting teaming partners.
  • Proofreads and edits English language documents.
  • Supports Management with ad hoc business development tasks.
  • Liaises with data management, programmes, HR, and finance departments as needed.
  • Works with graphic design team as necessary to obtain all graphics needed.
  • Supports liaisons and efforts to build positive relationships with other international development organisations and donors.
  • Attends external meetings and events in support of business development meetings when required.
Prepares minutes of meetings as required.


Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in a relevant field (international development/relations, social sciences, politics, history, or other related field).
  • Extensive writing and research experience.
  • Exceptional English language writing skills.
  • Ability to condense and convey complex information.
  • Experience in proposal development.
  • Strong understanding of the MENA context.
  • Excellent time management and demonstrated organisational skills; ability to prioritse effectively.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines/on multiple submissions simultaneously and work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work across time zones and thrive in a multicultural team; sensitivity to local environments and context.

Desirable Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Master s degree in a relevant field (international development/relations, social sciences, politics, history, or other related field).
  • Working proficiency in Turkish and/or Arabic.
  • Experience in the humanitarian and/or development sector.
  • Experience working in a humanitarian/development setting, preferably in the MENA region.
