Job Description

Scope of Works:

A full range of business analysis tasks including requirements planning and management; requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation; and capturing existing business processes and proposed changes for the implementation of a custom application in a complex business environment.

Deliverables:

The resources will consult, collaborate and coordinate with business subject matter experts and stakeholders on the design and implementation of appropriate solutions to assess and validate requirements to support business processes.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and focus groups with stakeholders to elicit, analyse and document business and functional requirements, and management of requirements traceability.
  • Conduct walkthroughs to validate and obtain approval of business analysis outputs.
  • Provide business analysis support relevant to provision of requirements support and clarification throughout a full project development or implementation lifecycle.
  • Undertake and support testing activities including preparing and executing test plans and cases.
  • Applying business analysis techniques and tools to document requirements, objectives, outcomes, processes, procedures, work instructions and workflows.
  • Delivering project documentation in alignment with EPS project management frameworks, on time, to expected quality standards as per scope and as agreed with the Project Manager.
  • Managing sensitive information and maintaining records in line with information management policies.

Overview of the project & work unit the position is related to:

SAGE provides agencies with a single, consolidated budget management solution that enables timely whole of government reporting, reduces financial governance risk and delivers efficiencies through the use of a consistent and centralised system without reducing existing functionality.

The Business Analyst will be responsible for a full range of business analysis tasks including requirements planning and management; requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation; and capturing existing business processes and proposed changes, for the implementation of a custom application in a complex business environment.

The Sage project is well underway and requires a Business Analyst that can hit the ground running. A Business Analyst that can quickly get up to speed with the project or EPS internal processes and understand the deliverables to Go Live. The Business Analyst will be required to assist the Project Manager in getting the relevant artefacts developed for sign off as part of the Transition to BAU plan, including completion of User Guides or artefacts deemed necessary for transition. There are times when the role will require the BA to be adaptable because it is a small team, support to the team and from the team is integral to working within the constraints. This project requires a BA that has experience in being able to use their experience, knowledge and skills but also be pragmatic in their approach.

Location of work

The suitable resource will be required to perform the services in Darwin as required by the projects activities. It is a requirement therefore that the suitable Services Personnel will be Darwin based for the duration of this engagement.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive skills and experience as a Business Analyst, including experience in requirements gathering, business process analysis/modelling and information analysis/modelling, planning, design, testing and system integration, using industry standard techniques in a complex business environment.
  • Experience mapping business requirements and processes to the functionality of a product whilst identifying gaps and opportunities.
  • Experience in managing information requirements in line with approved record keeping and information management policies, and including traceability of business requirements.
  • High level analytical skills and organisational skills with good attention to detail and ability to think laterally and conceptually.
  • Highly effective client liaison, change management and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative environment with high performing teams with high priority deliverables under tight timeframes, and balancing competing priorities.
  • Experience in end to end delivery of major business systems.
  • Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Visio and the usual office tools such as Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook (e-mail), proficient in the use of JIRA and SharePoint or ability to quickly acquire.
  • Experience identifying and analysing complex legislative and / or regulatory requirements applicable to an environment or process.



Desirable Skills and Experience:


  • Experience working in Government and/or finance systems.
