Ensures high-quality of all images and documents sent to digital storage or PACS (image quality, correct markers, annotations, and patient data/history).
Provides clinical orientation and helps develop competencies for new Ultrasound Technologists joining the department as directed by the Medical Imaging Manager.
Provides Ultrasound services with technique appropriate to paediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Responsible for the coordination of patient exam flow through the department and assists the office staff, ER staff, Nursing staff with the scheduling of patients.
Maintains sonographic and other equipment in efficient operating order.
Operates radiologic equipment and performs related technical procedures.
Performs additional manager or supervisor assigned duties.
Provides monitoring, coaching and evaluation of team members' performance, especially in the areas of productivity and quality management.
Serves as a positive role model by working with team members to promote teamwork and cooperation.
Oversees equipment quality control testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Handles delicate situations (fetal demise, cancerous pathology,) in a supportive and empathetic manner ("good bedside manner"), while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding exam outcomes or potential issues.
Prepares all the equipment for each test before it begins, such as inserting needles into patients for blood tests and checking that tubes are connected properly.
Responsible for using a machine that is like an ultrasound but with different controls.
After tests, analyzes data, and makes informed decisions about how to proceed with each case, such as whether surgery is needed.
