Underwriter - General Insurance

Our office in Bahrain is currently looking for an Underwriter for our general lines department.

Job Summary

• To propose and recommend terms and conditions in respect of risks/policies, adhering to underwriting guidelines, authority limits, treaty limits and treaty conditions at all times.
• Present such terms for approval of senior underwriter or direct manager.
• Complete necessary documents and forms relating to respective underwriting transactions for the review of the senior underwriter or direct manager as prescribed in the underwriting guidelines and procedures manuals.

Main responsibilities.

• Undertake pre-underwriting work on risks submitted.
• Make sure underwriting information and proposal forms are complete and perform risk assessment under the guidance of senior underwriter or direct manager.
• Monitor risk and catastrophe accumulations.
• Collect all materials and information needed to underwrite the risk.
• Make recommendations to the senior underwriter or direct manager for risks.
• Undertake renewal review exercise and invite renewals on timely basis.
• Undertake all data input for policies underwritten.
• Help prepare reinsurance renewal information.
• Ensure facultative reinsurance placements are achieved on time with no gaps in coverage prior to binding of risk.
• Ensure that all filing and administration on risks is complete and done in a professional manner.
• Act within limited basic underwriting authority for endorsements as per authority delegated by senior management, adhering to four eyes principle at all times.
• Adhere to the Company’s internal procedures and guidelines including but not limited to underwriting guidelines and underwriting authorities.
• Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the direct manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• 3 -5 years of experience.
