- Make calculations about pressures,loads and stresses.
- Consider the strength ofconstruction materials and select appropriately.
- Provide technical advice on safe designs andconstruction.
- Obtain planning and/or buildingregulations approval.
- Analyze configurationsof the basic components of a structure.
- Liaisewith professional staff such as architects andengineers.
- Monitor and inspect all workundertaken by contractors to ensure structuralsoundness.
- Administer contracts and manageprojects.
- Inspect properties to evaluate theconditions and foundations.
- Use computer aideddesign technology for simulation purposes.
