August 2024 Start The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat Oman serving the local Omani community as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school was established in 1993 under the ownership of the Royal Office and Royal Oman Police Pension Funds on land donated by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to provide high quality international education whilst embracing traditional values based on the foundations of Omans cultural heritage.

The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS).

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced educator to fill the role of Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator at our international bilingual school in Oman. The PYP Coordinator will lead and support the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme within our school ensuring alignment with the IB standards and practices while fostering a culture of inquirybased learning and internationalmindedness.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the planning implementation and evaluation of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum ensuring coherence and alignment with the IB standards and practices.
2. Provide guidance and support to teachers in the development of transdisciplinary units of inquiry incorporating inquirybased learning methodologies and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students.
3. Collaborate with the school leadership team teachers and other stakeholders to establish and maintain a positive and inclusive school culture that reflects the values and principles of the IB programme.
4. Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers related to PYP pedagogy assessment practices and curriculum development.
5. Support the integration of language acquisition including the development of language policies and practices that promote bilingualism and multilingualism within the PYP framework.
6. Monitor and assess the implementation of the PYP programme collecting and analyzing data to inform decisionmaking and continuous improvement efforts.
7. Foster partnerships with parents the local community and external organizations to enhance the PYP learning experiences and opportunities for students.
8. Serve as a liaison between the school and the International Baccalaureate Organization ensuring compliance with IB regulations policies and procedures.
9. Lead the process of selfstudy and evaluation for IB authorization and accreditation working collaboratively with staff to maintain high standards of quality and excellence.
10. Stay abreast of current trends research and best practices in international education particularly within the context of the IB programme and share knowledge and resources with the school community.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree Masters preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience preferably in a coordinating or administrative role within an IB school setting.
• Certification as an IB PYP educator or PYP coordinator; additional IB certifications (e.g. IB workshop leader examiner) desirable.
• Teaching certification PGCE QTS State Teaching Licence (NOT TEFL)
• Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience with a preference for candidates familiar with international educational frameworks.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills fostering positive relationships with students parents and colleagues.
