Construction Manager

A high-growth start-up building a digital bank designed and tailored for the African diaspora, with operations in North America and Europe, is looking to hire a Financial Controller who has experience working in FinTech and with emerging markets. Their innovative app simplifies banking for immigrants by providing users accounts in their country of origin as well as in their country of residence with easy interaction between the two.

A bit about the role:

The role of the Financial Controller, is a position within the company s Finance team. The perfect candidate for this role will have good communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and demonstrated expertise in the financial services industry. The company is a fast-paced start-up with entities in the UK, USA, Canada, and Nigeria and you would be required to familiarise yourself with necessary statutory and regulatory requirements in these locations.

Requirements

Your daily adventures include:

Organise and perform control activities, such as review and analysis of monthly / quarterly / annually numbers and disclosures on both consolidated and per-entity level, create processes and ensure accuracy of intercompany accounting

Organise financial close together with the Accounting team. Streamline the accounting functions and operations

Prepare the necessary documentation and support for successful statutory and group audit close, as well as collaborate with audit teams to support with this documentation

Collaborate with the management and executive team to establish more-effective processes and controls to ensure the integrity of the company s financial information and reporting

Collaborate with FP&A to produce accurate and comprehensive financial information for management decision making

Ensure that the necessary tax, statutory, and licensing requirements are met, as well as take care of the tax preparation duties together with accounting

Facilitate financial transactions

Ensure that relevant reporting standards are met

Other responsibilities as per discussion with management, including ad-hoc projects

What it takes to succeed:

5+ years of relevant experience is required

Good understanding of IFRS/GAAP

Experience in one of the Big 4 firms is advantageous

Able to thrive in a fast-paced Fintech start-up environment
