Install, test/troubleshoot, maintain/repair, read, and program all residential and commercial/industrial type meters including primary metering. Disconnect and connect all types of single and polyphase meters. Read and record electric usage on all residential and commercial/industrial type meters. Retrofit meters to join the AMI Fixed Mesh Network. Perform meter reading and special reads and complete all documentation necessary for meter connections, disconnections, and data usage analysis. Install, test/troubleshoot, maintain/repair, program AMI fixed mesh network components, including radios, fiber nodes, and relays. Ensure proper radio propagation and downloaded data analysis for metering accuracy. In conjunction with Engineering staff, secure all available plans, data, and reports necessary to ensure accurate field marking and investigates any dig-in incidents. Assist to install, test/troubleshoot and repair and/or removal of Demand Side Management (DSM) devices, including home area network devices, in support of Support EV charging, 5G, and other Electrification Programs, for installation, testing, troubleshooting, etc. as directed. Inspect and report meters for unauthorized connections, defects, and damages such as broken seals. Perform Infrared Scan inside metering cabinets and devices. Report any problems such as meter irregularities, damaged equipment, or impediments to meter access. Provide prompt GIS updates on meter location and metering data accuracy when meters installed, replaced, and/or removed. Report any inaccuracies, discrepancies, etc. to General Foreman of Grid Assets and Communications. Ensure accuracy of metering multiply factor.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Certificate in electrical technology, electrician, meter technician or equivalent ITI Electrical Engineering / Diploma in Electrical Engineering Experience: Entry level requires a minimum of 2 years experience in a meter testing position or equivalent tech. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good command of the English language. Proficiency with computer and handheld electronic devices. Demonstrate familiarity with all aspects of meter reading. Ability to demonstrate mechanical/technical aptitude. Neatness and qualifications necessary for professional, courteous contact with the general public. Manual Skills: Good hand-eye coordination required for work in meter reading, meter installation and testing. Computer and hand held electronic devices, including testing and troubleshooting equipment.
