Adjunct Faculty as Assistant Professor / Instructor of Mass Communication

Job Summary:The Mass Communication Program at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah seeks a part-time faculty member, at the rank of Assistant Professor / Instructor, starting August 2021. We welcome candidates whose teaching ensures student success, and whose service is undertaken to promote their citizenship in the School and University.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:A balance between high-quality instruction, and service will be required for continued professional advancement. The teaching load for adjunct/part-time faculty is 6 credit hours per semester. Candidates are expected to have experience in promoting active learning by students through the use of high-impact educational practices. The program currently offers a B.A. degree and candidates must be prepared to teach classes required by the major curriculum (degree plan) as well as electives, including methods and content courses appropriate to their teaching and research interests. Ideal candidates will have experience with, and interest in, teaching classes designated as Writing-Intensive. Service expectations include participating in school and university committees and contributing to the discipline through involvement with professional associations.

Minimum Qualifications:PhD/Master’s degree in mass communication studies or closely related field from an accredited university, relevant teaching experience with evidence of use of high-impact educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:History of working effectively with globally diverse student populations, and demonstrated experience with ACEJMC accreditation.
