- Monitoring the cost of materials, labor costs, and other expenses to ensure that they do not exceed budgeted amounts
- Developing and maintaining cost estimates for construction projects to ensure that the project will be profitable based on target profit margins
- Evaluating design proposals to determine which one best meets client requirements while staying within budget parameters
- Analyzing labor costs by job function and contractor performance to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions
- Preparing material requisitions to ensure that contractors have enough materials to complete their work
