- Packaging Engineers develop packaging for a company's products, with the goal of making the package both functional and cost-effective. Responsibilities shown on sample resumes in this field include gathering internal and external customer requirements and submitting a packaging timeline; creating innovative packaging designs, cartons, and thermoformed packaging; and standardizing all categories of the product packaging and assembly processes. While example resumes show that Packaging Engineers typically hold a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, packaging engineering or a related area, some employers also require several years of experience in the field.
