Supporting Senior External Relations and Projects Officer (SERPO) in dealing with donors Administrative Support and Project Management:
Researches on a variety of subjects and organizations.
Provides administrative support as requested by SERPOs;
Assists in monitoring the implementation of an Agency-wide portfolio of projects funded by various donor organizations, corporate and foundations;
Verifies that projects are implemented in accordance with project documents and donor agreements as regards time-frame, finances as well as substance;
In coordination with relevant Fields and Departments, sets and monitors calendars for project reporting and works with the Field Offices, Finance Department and Programme Departments to ensure timely submission of progress and final reports;
Liaises with divisions within the Finance Department and the Programme Department to verify information and clearances of proposals for submission to donors;
Reviews proposals for submission to donors and drafts correspondence to donors relating to submission of reports, use of savings and interest and other related issues;
Updates on a regular basis the DRD/Amman agreements and projects databases and ensures information is exploited to avoid delays in reporting and payments off further installments.
Communication and visibility:
Under the supervision of the SERPOs, the consultant will ensure adequate communication outreach towards Arab countries;
Provides first drafts of press-releases for new agreements, official visits, etc;
In coordination with Communications Division and Fields, the consutlant will ensure that visibility plans under projects are addressed and satisfactory implemented.
Under the guidance of SERPOs and in coordination with Rep Offices, the consultant will develop funding from donors who do not contribute substantially to the Agency;
Under the supervision of SERPOs, the consultant will be responsible for maintaining contacts with local representations of countries;
The consultant will also be responsible for researching new sources of funding.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned including assistance to SERPO, Chief, Donor Relations Divison (CDRD), and Director of External Relations and Communications Department (DERCD) during their visits abroad as well as administrative, logistics, and other support services as needed;
Provide other related services as may be assigned by the DERCD.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor Degree from an accredited educational institution in political science, international relations, business or public administration, law, economics, development or humanitarian studies or a related discipline;
At least 2 years experience including fundraising, project management, political analysis or a related field;
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Ability to plan and prioritize the work under tight deadlines and handle multiple concurrent activities;
Positive attitude and strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills;
Proven ability to exercise initiative;
Proficiency in using computer applications, including Excel, MS word, and power point.
Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic.
At least one year of international experience outside one s home country working for an international NGO or UN agency on fundraising would be viewed favorably;
Knowledge of UN system and/or humanitarian/development assistance programs;
Experience in the Gulf and/or Arab region would be an asset.
